Mike and I made another venture to the dreaded IKEA today. The few times I can drag Mike over we always say, never again. The way they trap you like a rat in a cage - devious, very devious. We did find this really fun tube for Anne to crawl through...
So as I'm sitting here writing this post, Mike informs me that he's going to get the Lemon Tree. What does this mean? (you might ask...) Let me elaborate. I dislike the lemon tree, I am not sure why I have no affection for this tree, I have a few theories:
1) maybe because Mike has great affection for it and goes to great ends to make sure that darn tree survives, he puts that tree above all our other plants (that usually die unless they can survive on their own).
2) maybe because last year that tree lived inside all winter and shed leaves and dirt all over the floor. Not to mention the fact that Lady Bugs have great affection for this tree, so great in fact that hundreds (yes, hundreds) of them decided to have lady bug picnic in our house the better part of last year. Kind of fun at first, sad and yucky when the lady bugs do not make it and you're picking up many, many little bugs off the floor.
3) maybe because the very fact the Lemon tree has to be inside. What kind of a tree can't make it through an Atlanta winter?!
4) probably because it is a lot of work to keep this Lemon tree going for very little payoff - we had a total of 1, count it, 1 lemon this year.
Well, I digress, Mike just reminded me that I did enjoy the lemon off the tree (I did, it is a Meyer lemon tree and all though there was only one this year it was quite delicious). So Lemon has another winter inside, enjoying the afternoon sun at the front of our house. I look forward to another ladybug picnic and 1 lemon next fall. Live it up!
